1. Stay out of the lunchroom at work.
There are a couple of good reasons for this. First of all – hanging around a table with other folks who are eating can encourage you (even sub-consciously) to eat more.
Second – ever notice that your work-mates bring in food they don’t want to keep in the house? Like left-over birthday cake or holiday candies?
2. No more hiding the snacks.
Do you keep treats (like chocolate kisses) in the night side table or in a special “junk food” cupboard or drawer? Stop doing that. Put all your junk food out in plain view for the world to see. This might help encourage you to not have it in the house at all. If junk isn’t readily available there is a better chance it won’t get eaten as often.

3. Adopt a skinny friend.
Birds of a feather they say. When you hang with folks who exercise and eat well their habits can rub off. Hanging out with people who have poor lifestyle habits make it harder to stick to a healthy regime.
4. Remove chemical additives.
This includes the “diet” foods that use sugar substitutes. Focus on clean and natural food sources.
5. Learn to visually recognise what a healthy portion should look like on your plate.
Take a week to just measure your food. After that week controlling portions (even at the drive-through) will be easier and make more sense.
6. Keep your rooms cooler.
When the surrounding air is cool the body has to turn up the heat. This burns calories. Cold can teach the body fat to burn fat.
7. Drink lots of ice water.
As well as making your body work harder to warm up the cold water – drinking water helps to burn calories.
8. Take your vitamins.
maybe those cravings aren’t for junk food at all. Perhaps your body is really craving nutrition. Poorly manages diets can leave a person undernourished and vitamin poor. Some vitamins have even shown to enhance weight loss efforts like Vitamin D and Vitamin B12 aids sleep and weight loss.
9. Think about it!
Using brain power actually burns calories. Put together your problem-solving skills and burn calories while you think.
10. Get a good night’s sleep.
Remove the TV from the bedroom and cover up the clocks and close the drapes. A dark room will provide the best and deepest sleeps and a good night’s rest enhances weight loss. There are several tactics you can try to help get a good night’s sleep.
11. Treat yourself like a dog.
There are things that people do for their pets that they won’t do for themselves. Treat yourself like a dog and watch the pounds melt away.
12. Hot & Spicy Foods

14. Start a weight loss challenge in your work group.
What better way to create a health conscious environment then to start a challenge in your workplace. Working together to make one common healthy goal will encourage and inspire. There are many great weight loss challenge ideas you can use.
15. Scoop dressing with a fork.
Creamy salad dressing can add an abundance of calories to an otherwise low-calorie meal. One way to have the yummy taste of your favourite salad dressing with each bite is to NOT pour it on. Pour on or two tablespoons of the dressing a small serving bowl or cup. Then you just dip your fork tip into the dressing before you stab your salad. This way every bite has flavour and you don’t overdo the portion.
16. Share dessert with a friend.
Some places have the best desserts but the serving is way too big. There is no harm in having a favourite piece of pie at your local restaurant once in awhile. Why not really enjoy the moment by splitting the treat with a friend. That way you make all your tastebuds happy and have none of the guilt.
17. Avoid weekly specials at local restaurants.
It is tempting to join in the all-you-can eat buffet specials. It might be a good deal when considering price but not so much on the health and wardrobe. Next time the flyer shows up in the mail – recycle it – immediately!
18. Cut out alcohol.
Did you know that alcohol has more calories than carbs? Not only that it retards muscle growth. The less muscle mass the lower the metabolism. If losing fat and gaining muscle is your goal then dropping the nightly drink is something to consider.
19. Journal EVERYTHING.
Write it down. Food portions, goals, exercise, feelings, even your dreams. Being aware of actions and thoughts can shine a light on what is causing your weight gain or plateau. Getting a good weight loss journal or making a weight loss scrapbook will help with achieving weight loss goals.
20. Eat breakfast
The first meal of the day sets the tone for the rest of the day. Lots of people say they aren’t hungry first thing in the morning but even just a mouthful of natural crunchy peanut butter will start the metabolism. Don’t worry about the fat content – it’s a healthy fat and healthy fats are needed to burn off the thigh dimply fat.
21. Get off the scales.
Weighing yourself too often gives a wrong picture, and can contribute to eating disorders. Weight fluctuates daily and each day can have different weights throughout the day. Water retention, bowel movements, even the lunar phase can affect what you see on the scales. More than likely your scales are not telling the whole story.
22. Share healthy meals with a buddy.
Similar to an office weight loss challenge, you and your workmates can take turns planning and sharing lunch meals. In a group of five you can each take turns preparing the healthy lunch for the others. What fun to only have to decide on what’s for healthy lunch ONE day of the week.
23. Add more fibre to the diet.
Adding fibre promotes weight loss and leaves a person feeling fuller longer. There are several ways to get healthy fibers into the diet without even noticing.
