A little exercise throughout your day adds up to big benefits.
The DeskCycle has THE best desk clearance available in an under desk pedal machine. It will work well with desks that have a height of only 27 inches.
As far as whether or not you can actually get a “real” workout with such a simple concept – yes you can. It offers the ability to increase the resistance. The machinery is magnetic and high quality. By setting the resistance to give more of a workout with this type of design means you will get a smooth pedalling motion throughout.
Go here to read a full review on the MagneTrainer.
If you just want to use the pedal for motion and no resistance the lowest setting will allow you to do this. By setting the resistance at the first setting you will be pedalling freely without any resistance at all.
Most people who have started at the lowest resistance are still happily using the DeskCycle and have not yet used all it’s tension. It has 8 resistance settings that are performance calibrated for optimum use.
There is also a function display device that measures and displays your time of use, the distance you went, and the speed. The company 3D Innovations also gives you access to their online calculator for calculating calories burned.
Forward and Reverse Motion
This pedal exerciser allows for both forward and reverse motion. The foot straps make this simple to use in this manor so you can work the muscles on your entire leg. Or if you just get tired of going in one direction all the time.
When you pedal forward you work your calf muscles and quadriceps. When you pedal backward you work your hamstrings and your tibialis anterior (lower front of your leg where you can get shin splints). This helps to keep your legs warm and pumping blood to fight against sitting diseases such as thrombosis.
To keep your chair from rolling back the DeskCycle comes with a strap that you can attach to both the cycle and the office chair.
Designed for the Office
This pedal machine was designed specifically for use in the office. It is quiet and smooth to operate. It uses a magnetic mechanism for the resistance settings. This system has been patented and is the same system used by the MagneTrainer that is used in medical and rehabilitation centre’s.
The purpose of the magnetic resistance is for smooth operation so there is no jarring on the ankle and knee joints. It also allows for extremely quiet operation. This makes it perfect for the office environment.
Being quiet means you won’t interrupt your co-workers and the smooth operation allows you to pedal while you work.
The low profile of the pedal machine itself means that the majority of people can use this and not knock their knees under the desk. A person up to the height of 5’7″ can use a desk as low as 27″. A taller person will need a desk with more clearance. Many desks are taller than the 27″ but if yours is not, a very simple fix to this is to use bed risers under the legs.
- The DeskCycle weights 23.8 lbs.
- You will need 2 AA batteries to operate the display and these ARE included with your purchase.
Even the negative comments about this machine aren’t overly negative. For the most part people who have returned this desk cycle have been happy with the construction and quality of the machine but were unable to adapt it to their work environment.
It is built with a very low profile and the majority of people have been able to adjust their seating and legs to use it effectively. There are still a couple of people who have been unable to do so. Some had difficulty because they were taller and found they still didn’t have desk clearance or the stride was too short for them. The solution to this has been to use bed risers on the desk.
As well, there is a strap to attach it to your chair so the chair and pedals don’t slide. The negative feedback on this was it was still preferred to switch to a stationary chair. Most people have not commented on this or found a locking caster worked great.

Taller persons will have to adapt their desk by replacing it with a taller one or using bed risers.
Some people find the strap that is used to connect their chair to the DeskCycle not enough to keep their chair from rolling so have to replace their casters with locking ones.
