Recently released research results on intradialytic exercise show:
– 12% increase in urea clearance
– 26% reduction in hospitalization
– 61% shorter length of stay
– Lowered risk for low blood pressure

Some objectives of the meeting are:
- to establish a mission and vision for the GREX group,
- promote education on developing global research networks,
- exercise implementation,
- increasing the relevance of exercise in nephrology,
- and to develop a strategy to further international physical activity and exercise research in kidney disease and dialysis.
The Calgary dialysis clinics have combined kinesiology and nephrology by giving dialysis patients Stel’Air Medical Pedallers so they can exercise during their dialysis treatments.
Used successfully in hospitals, rehab centers, and at home. Very quiet to not disturb anyone else. Pedal during dialysis treatments or just for fun.
