Sensory seat wobble cushion is used as a wiggle seat on their current classroom or homeschooling desk chair.
By allowing your child to wiggle and fidget in their seat it helps to free them up to focus on the school work.
When a child has difficulty sitting still this can really help. Another advantage when they do use the balance disk as a sensory seat cushion is it also helps to increase core strength and balance abilities.
This disk comes pre-inflated and includes a small pump so you can add more air if you need it. One side is bumpy and the other is smooth. The bumps help for tactile needs.
Uses of the Wobble Seat
By letting your child wiggle when they need to they won’t need to focus on trying to sit still. This helps to minimize disruption usually caused by tapping and shifting feet. Children with Autism, ADHD, and SPD have shown to benefit from using sensory tools like the wobble seat.
Some classes have incorporated the balance ball. This is also a great tool but not always the most practical solution for all students. The balls can roll all over the room and some kids do have difficulty balancing on them. The inflatable disc shape allows for it to be used on the students regular chair.
The wiggle and wobble on the disk will engage the core muscles. This is helpful to increase core strength and can improve sense of balance.
Simply place the wiggle cushion on the chair and the child can sit directly on it. They can also stand on it one foot or two. This is great when they need more movement or standing at a standing desk. They can choose if they want to stand or sit on the bumpy or smooth side.
Because they are durable and practical they can be used all day long. Sometimes the students even like to use them at the kitchen table for mealtime.
Whether they are being instructed during an eLearning session or doing their homework, the balance cushion is a welcomed addition. It can also be used as a booster seat while sitting at the “adult” table during mealtime or playing games with the rest of the family.
