The HealthyWage Online Challenges offer more diverse “games” than other similar betting sites. You can also join up to 10 different programs at the same time. AND you can also join challenges from other organizations at the same time. This way you can try and maximize the money you earn from one weight loss event.
By joining in on more than one challenge you could exponentially increase the returns and add to the motivation factor. Although you can only join one HealthyWager at a time you could join more than one of the Team Challenges, also more than one JackPot Challenge, and more than one Step Challenge at the same time. The catch is these don’t always run at the same time so you will weigh in differently at the different starting and ending points.
For example, you could sign up for a HealthyWager personal weight loss bet, then join a $10,000 Team Challenge, plus 5 Jackpot Challenges (4% Fast Track or 6% Jackpots), and top it off by adding 3 step challenges.
Although they are similar, the difference between a team challenge and a jackpot challenge can add up.

The HealthyWager (Most Popular)
By entering the HealthyWager you are essentially competing with yourself and the goals you have chosen.
Essentially all you do is:
– choose a weight loss goal that is at least 10% of your starting weight.
– decide how much time you need to attain that goal (you can choose anywhere between 6 – 18 months)
– and place your bet (a minimum of $100 that can be broken into monthly payments).
At the end, if you have met your goal, you get your prize money.
$10,000 Team Challenge
The Team Challenges are teams of 5 that compete against one another to win the $10,000 pot. If you don’t have a team you can join one looking for a member or have the HealthyWage folks slot you in one.
There are some oddball rules to be aware of. For example a team of 5 can continue to compete if they lose a member to pregnancy. However, if you are injured they will not remove you from the team because they state that injured people can still be expected to diet effectively.
The “game” essentially is won by the team that loses the greatest percentage of weight. This means there is no real encouragement for you to gain healthy muscle mass AND there is a limit on the acceptable amount of individual weight loss. Should one individual lose more than 16.59% of their body weight, anything over that amount will NOT be included in the overall team weight loss average.
There is also the added incentive that if you do achieve a 10% weight loss within 9 months – you will also get your initial fee back. The fee is $25/mo for the 3 months of the team challenge.
The top team wins $10,000, second place wins $5,000 and third place wins $3,000. Plus $2,000 in additional prizes!
The Jackpot Challenges are where teams of challengers face off against other teams. If you don’t have a team you can join one looking for another member.
The goal is to lose 6% of your weight within the time period.
So long as your team loses the 6% bodyweight you will win a split of the pot with all the other winners. BUT – HealthyWage skims 25% off the top of the pot first. Plus they take 100% of the money not yet collected.
It doesn’t matter if you had some teammates not meet their goal of 6%, other teammates can prop them up by losing more. You will ALL still get your share of the winnings.
The more people that play the more money in the pot.
There are different Step Challenges to join. One is about increasing your daily step rate by 20% and another is to reach 1,000,000 steps within 100 days.
Teams put money in the pot and the money is split among those who reached their goals. Steps are measured by using the HealthyWage App and connecting it to your Fitbit.

Corporate Weight Loss Challenges for Employees
Corporate Challenges can be fun. You enter into teams with people you know.
Often a corporate sponsored challenge will have a jackpot event that will include money for charity. The winning teams can decide to donate their winnings to the charity as well.
You can use a forum like HealthyWage or start your own so you can keep the 25% they normally skim off the top. There are more exciting and fun types of weight loss challenges you can bet on as a group.
For the group challenges there are weekly mini-challenges you can participate in. This will give you “ribbons” to add to your score board. They have no real value other than potentially adding some motivation UNLESS there is a tie for the top prize. In this event the ribbons will tip the scale.
